EXEMPTIONS FROM THE STANDARDIZED EXAM BASED ON EXTERNAL/CERTIFIED EXAMINATIONS PASSED:

External/certified exam with a business profile

• Zwolnienia na podstawie certyfikatu TELC  English B2•C1 Business

• External/certified exam with a business profile (e.g. LCCI, BEC, TELC Business) passed at the level required for the standardized exam at a given level of language course (or higher – see information below) in accordance with the CEFR scale (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) is equivalent to obtaining the maximum number of points in the final language exam for all parts of the standardized exam (written and/or spoken). The pertinent certificate must be presented for review to the Head of the English language team, Ms. Małgorzata Drużkowska (budam@uek.krakow.pl) in order to obtain validation. The level of the passed exam must be specified on the certificate.

  External/certified non-profiled exams – an exam passed at the level required for the standardized exam at a given level of language course (or higher – information below) in accordance with the CEFR scale (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) is equivalent to obtaining the maximum number of points in the written part of the final language exam (40 points). However, students are still required to pass the oral part of the standardized exam, which tests business vocabulary, and that means that they need to obtain at least 6 out of 10 possible points in that part. Therefore, 40 points for a passed external exam plus the number of points from the standardized oral exam is the final number of points given for the standardized exam. The certificate must be presented for review to the Head of the English language team, Ms. Małgorzata Drużkowska (budam@uek.krakow.pl) in order to obtain validation. The level of the passed exam must be specified on the certificate.

  For the students of law:

  – exemptions based on external exams testing the knowledge of legal language (e.g. TOLES)

   

  PLEASE NOTE! External certificates do not exempt the students from the obligation of attending business-oriented language classes and obtaining credits.

   

  Level of language groups according to the CEFR scale (levels of language proficiency according to the Council of Europe) 

  PLEASE NOTE! At the KUE Language Center, in most cases, students in study programs leading to the bachelor’s degree study two foreign languages. One of these must be completed at B2 level at the minimum.

  First-cycle studies (leading to bachelor’s degree)

  1st year – A1; 2nd year students take the exam at level A2

  1st year – A2; 2nd year students take the exam at level B1

  1st year – B1; 2nd year students take the exam at level B2

  1st year – B2; 2nd year students take the exam at level B2+

  1st year – C1; 2nd year students take the exam at level C1+

  1st year – C1+; 2nd year students take the exam at level C2

   

  The final grade for the subject is calculated as a weighted average: of the grades from the course pass (40%) and the grades from the exam (60%)

An external exam passed at the given level of completion of the language course (or higher) according to the CEFR scale (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) is equivalent to obtaining the maximum number of points in the final language exam.
